<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Informatics Systems Administrator<BR> <BR>Department Oregon Clinical Translational Research Center<BR> <BR>Location CHH 15000<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> .50 FTE; Monday - Friday; Salary range $55,000 - $65,000 (full time salary range listed--this position is .50 time)<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>The Informatics Systems Administrator ensures the operation and optimization of research computing infrastructure to support the growing and diverse scientific needs of the Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute (OCTRI), the Biomedical Informatics Program (BMIP) and research investigators.<BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR>* Perform routine system administration tasks such as COTS and open source software installation, configuration, and optimization. Analyze existing load and enhance performance of application and database servers<BR>* Collaborate with OHSU IT engineers on internal infrastructure, and process enhancements. Work with OCTRI informatics team members to help define and document data/business requirements<BR>* Interface professionally with OCTRI BMIP staff to provide first-level research computing administrative support, as well as understand informatics and IT needs and translate them into scalable, reusable, and cohesive systems<BR>* Other tasks and projects as assigned. OCTRI is a rapidly evolving research institution reflecting the dynamic nature of scientific inquiry Consequently this position will require flexibility to quickly and continuously adapt with the program as informatics needs evolve<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Required:<BR>* Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline<BR>* UNIX/Linux systems administration including Apache and Tomcat configuration. Developing tools to automate routine system management<BR>* MySQL database administration and optimization<BR>* Working knowledge of SQL<BR>* Self-motivated; able to learn additional languages and frameworks as required<BR>* Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly, positively and effectively is required<BR>* Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience<BR>* Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and productively in a multi-disciplinary team environment to achieve shared goals<BR>Preferred:<BR>* Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in systems and application development<BR>* At least 3 years experience in system administration, specifically with Apache httpd and Tomcat servers in a Linux/Unix or similar environment<BR>* Demonstrated experience in an open-source environment<BR>* Familiarity with complex http proxy and ajp configurations<BR>* Experience in performance tuning application and database servers, such as Apache Tomcat or MySQL<BR>* Experience defining and documenting data/business requirements<BR>* Experience in providing informatics support in an academic or research environment<BR>* Working knowledge LDAP and Perl-compatible regular expressions<BR> <BR>Additio </font></td>
