               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Title: Materials Researcher (Polymers)<BR>Location: OR-Portland<BR>Job Number:_00063738<BR>As a Materials Researcher you will be asked to research, develop, and commercialize medium and long term globally relevant innovative materials and processes for NIKE footwear. You will work closely with and be guided by Senior Materials Researchers in NIKE&#39;s Advanced Materials Research team for Footwear. You will work in a wide range of material areas, including but not limited to, injection molded elastomeric polymers, composites, powders for laser sintering, and extruded elastomeric films. You will be expected to provide technical expertise in material science, process engineering and associated manufacturing operations and recommend solutions for the projects you work on. You&#39;ll research, create, develop, and commercialize innovative materials and processes on an 18 - 36 month time frame, to provide solutions for globally relevant performance initiatives. You will also partner with members of Footwear Innovation, Advanced Manufacturing, and external partners to implement these developments. You&#39;ll continually research new materials, processes and technologies based on NIKE business needs. You will be expected to look outside the standard footwear industries, eg. University research, trade shows, and competitive landscape, for opportunities that can be potentially relevant to NIKE business needs.<BR>You will work with both internal and external testing labs to insure that materials are properly tested, interpret test results and utilize these test results to draw conclusions on material performance. You will also be responsible for working with lab personnel to develop new tests methods for materials, when necessary, to validate performance characteristics that fall outside the existing lab procedures.<BR>Project work will primarily include executing project direction that has been established by the Senior Materials Researcher team. In addition, you will also be expected to define new areas of research to support the projects. You will connect with key NIKE business and innovation partners to understand the need and scope of the projects. You will help to define the resources required, both internally and externally, to execute the project.<BR><BR>Qualifications:<BR><BR>Bachelor&#39;s Degree in Polymer Science and Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field is required. Master&#39;s Degree in any of the above fields is preferred.<BR>Minimum of 5 years experience selecting, developing and optimizing materials and processes for maximum product performance<BR>Experience with a diverse range of materials and processes required.
