The salary range for this position is: $14.57 - $19.64/hour. This position is located at the Center for Health & Healing, South Waterfront.<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> The Medical Assistant assists care providers in the care and treatment of patients by performing simple procedures and treatments. Work is performed in various locations such as examination rooms and treatment rooms. The person in this position must also be skilled in front office operations and have the ability to flex and perform the duties and tasks of the front office performed by Patient Access Specialists. The Patient Access Service Specialist gathers and records required information about patients; provides specific customer services which include screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and individual?s obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling appointments, and assisting patients in an office or clinic setting. This position is within the Ambulatory Float Pool and requires flexibility and willingness to work in a variety of Practices with little or no advance notice of assignment.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> Required: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. Some positions may require certification as a CMA through the American Association of Medical Assistants. Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of diverse customers in difficult situations. Skill in developing and maintaining professional relationships. Ability to prioritize work demands. Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures. Current BLS certification. Preferred: Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one (1) year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position. Experience includes scheduling appointments, resolving conflicts, composing correspondence, editing and proofreading documents. Experience working with an electronic medical record system. Bilingual.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> This position works in a busy environment with a lot of interruptions, multiple demands and people interactions. It requires dealing with noise and frequent interruptions within the work group. This position requires sitting for at least two hours at a time. Heavy use of computer and phones. Ability to occasionally lift and carry at least 25 lbs. Ability to speak clearly, demonstrate patience and understanding of customer needs. Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal customers. Significant use of personal computers, copiers, multi-line phones and fax machines.
