The Organ Donation Coordinator is under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, Department Director at the Pacific NW Transplant Bank (PNTB) and the Service Line Director of Transplant Services at OHSU. The duties of this position are: utilizing established parameters and healthcare knowledge and expertise, coordinates all aspects of organ donation for transplant and research in the Donor Service Area hospitals in Oregon, southern Washington, and southwest Idaho. Assesses and evaluates potential organ donors, communicates with donor families, directs clinical management of the organ donor, evaluates and places organs for transplant, coordinates the organ recovery process with transplant and medical teams and assists those teams with the surgical recovery and transportation of organs for transplant and research. The Organ Donation Coordinator also provides informational and educational opportunities to professional and public audiences.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> Required: Bachelor's Degree. Two (2) years recent relevant experience. Excellent communication skills, ability to take clinical call for a 24 hour period and to function for extended hours in an intense, high-paced environment; flexible, highly motivated, a good team member and able to exercise sound judgment independently and quickly. Must be able to travel by charter and commercial aircraft. Be able to lift 80 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Recent organ coordinator experience. CPTC certification, as in Organ Procurement Coordinator.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> he Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC) will manage and assist in organ recovery, allocation, preservation, and follow-up of donated organ. The ODC is on clinical call for 24 hour periods, must travel by charter and commercial aircraft, conduct donor management in ICU?s, screen for potential organ, tissue, and eye donations, obtain consent for donation, communicates with donor families, and assist with organ recovery. Marketing and education responsibilities include: hospital assessments, develop organ donation protocols, and provide education to hospital staff for the purpose of increasing organ donations.
