<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">PAS Specialist<BR> <BR>Department Otolaryngology<BR> <BR>Location HRC 478<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE M-F 8:30AM to 5PM; Salary: $14.57 - $19.64/hour; Location: Marquam Hill<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> Provide quality support to the Department of Otolaryngology in order to ensure a positive atmosphere for patient care, smooth flow of clinic, timely registration and scheduling of patients. Ensure the clinics are able to function smoothly and efficiently while keeping the patients well-being paramount. Responds to questions regarding insurance coverage, copayment requirements, and general clinic information. Conducts patient intake including verification of eligibility, benefits, authorizations for office and surgical services. Enter and update online authorizations into EARL. Schedules patient appointments and coordinates ancillary appointments. Request, receive and prepare previous medical history, scans and lab results for all new patients. Coordinates document and data flow between division support staff to include surgery scheduler and clinical staff. Provide high quality customer service to both external and internal customers that meet or exceed the service standards of the health care industry. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, flexible coverage of internal service needs and the continuous application of process improvement methods and skills.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Minimum Qualifications:<BR>* Six month of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position OR successful completion of the PAS Trainee position<BR>* Proficient in Microsoft systems including Word and Excel.<BR>* Experience with scheduling of appointments and obtaining managed care authorizations.<BR>* Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.<BR>* Working knowledge of medical terminology;<BR>* Strong relationship building skills with patients, care plans, providers, clinic staff, management, OHSU and community partners;<BR>* Exceptional customer service skills - both in-person and on the telephone;<BR>* Exceptional interpersonal skills-able to resolve conflicts and problem solve between parties;<BR>* Demonstrates active listening skills and supportive, professional behavior.<BR>* Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills;<BR>* Ability to manage multiple priorities, including multi-line phones, prioritize workload, meet deadlines and meet urgent patient, physician and system needs;<BR>* Ability to work accurately and without constant supervision;<BR>* Self-starter who requires little supervision;<BR>* Must have good judgement with regards to daily work and prioritization.<BR>* Must be detail oriented in daily work.<BR>Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree.
