Ideally situated downtown next to Portland's Pioneer Square and the MAX light Rail, the Nines rests atop the historic landmark Meier & Frank Building. The striking decor and impeccable service is a contemporary homage to the structure's storied past. To compliment the history of our beautiful hotel are its two amazing restaurants.<BR><BR>Departure restaurant is located on the rooftop and is known for creating modern, accessible Asian cuisine using traditional techniques learned in the kitchens of the Far East.<BR>The Urban Farmer steakhouse is the second restaurant, located on the 8th Floor. With an emphasis on local organic sourcing and simple straight forward preparations, Urban Farmer represents the very best of the modern culinary movement.<BR>Finally, the Nines is host to many local and national conferences and frequently its 13,000 square feet of beautifully decorated banquet space is fully utilized.<BR><BR>We are currently searching for a Pastry Chef to join our team.<BR><BR>Sage Restaurant Group is a team of passionate industry-leading restaurateurs who excel in the realm of F&B operations by creating and operating successful concepts that are distinctly branded, innovative and highly designed. Our team creates unexpected, playful and locally-focused food and beverage experiences that connect with the people who live and work in the communities we serve.<BR>These integrated solutions, combining both restaurants and hotel F&B services, are delivered through true partnerships at the property level.<BR><BR>Essential Functions<BR><BR>? Prepare all pastry and dessert items for buffet, banquet and restaurant use according to standard recipes. ? Supervise all pasty staff including, hiring, training, counseling and discipline. ? Visually inspect appearance of all cold food for proper color combination and overall presentation to maintain appeal. ? Schedule appropriate number of staff according to daily needs, banquet functions and weekly forecasts. ? Ensure proper storage of all pastry items in refrigerators and freezers to maintain product freshness.<BR><BR>Supportive Functions In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:<BR><BR>? Properly rotate food products in order to keep spoilage and waste to a minimum. ? Ensure that all equipment in work area is properly cleaned. ?
