               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Postdoctoral Researcher<BR> <BR>Department Environmental & Biomolecular Systems<BR> <BR>Location OGI<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE; Salary range $38,495 - $47,344<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>This Postdoctoral Research position works in the OHSU Division of Environmental & Biomolecular Systems on the OHSU West Campus in Beaverton, Oregon.<BR>This position will conduct research involving transcriptional control of gene expression in Bacillus subtilis in response to oxygen limitation. In vivo and in vitro binding of multiple transcription factors and their interplay at given promoters will be investigated. Responsibilities will include presenting findings in seminars and at regional and national conferences, and assisting in the direction of graduate students, interns, volunteers, and other lab personnel. This position is also responsible for writing up research results in a timely manner and publishing notable findings. Funding is available for two to three years.<BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR>* The postdoc will start with ChAP-qPCR (chromosomal affinity precipitation followed by qPCR) analysis to elucidate whether binding of each transcription factor to promoter DNA is affected by binding of other transcription regulators. Additional studies will involve northern blot analysis, in vitro/in vivo footprinting, in vitro transcription, and protein purification.<BR>* Participate in routine shared lab duties.<BR>* Responsible for taking research from inception to publication, writing up work results in a timely manner and in an acceptable format that will expedite publication. Draft and revise manuscripts for journal publication. <BR>* Present research findings at seminars and conferences.<BR>* Participate in training and assisting graduate students, junior research staff, interns, and other lab personnel as needed. Develop and participate in K-12 education activities, such as classes, camps, and mentoring K-12 interns. Participate in higher education activities, such as mentoring undergraduate interns.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Required:<BR>* Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bacteriology, or related field.<BR>* Three or more years of laboratory research experience; may include graduate school research.<BR>* Transcriptional regulation, bacterial genetics, and molecular biology knowledge.<BR>Preferred:<BR>* Lab experience in enzymology, genomics, microscopy, and protein chemistry.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>How To Apply <BR> <BR> Apply here online.
