The person in this position will perform the essential job functions and duties are as follows:<BR><BR>* Develop and maintain control procedures and audit protocols to ensure critical processes stay within acceptable range. Track and clearly communicate the current state of the processes. <BR>* Work with and coach shop floor personnel in regard to instructions, techniques, process improvements, and the reduction of execution type variation.<BR>* Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Methods Engineering with regards to quotation, design, part specification criteria and information related to scrap and rework percent.<BR>* Reduce process variation through the collection and analysis of data, identification of the root cause of variation, and development of effective corrective and preventive actions.<BR>* Prepare technical notes and reports dealing with process improvements, new materials and variation reduction.<BR>* Lead systematic problem solving on complex problems and coach across all levels. Make determinations of process &quot;best practices&quot; based on industry standards and current limitations. <BR>* Understand complex systems and have a systematic approach to problem solving using validated data and fact based discussions.<BR>* Participates in corporate &quot;community of practice&quot; for process related issues, representing the Portland plant<BR>Job Requirements :<BR><BR>* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy preferred with Foundry subjects preferred. Other engineering disciplines may be considered based on experience<BR>* 2 years experience in an industrial setting preferred. Knowledge of the sand casting industry related to steel production would be a distinct advantage<BR>* Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB), Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB), or Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) certification desired<BR>* This job requires the ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures, specifications, and blueprints. This includes the ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, and procedures. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from shop floor personnel, peers, management, vendors and customers is also required.<BR>* The job requires statistical and analytical skills, critical thinking, research ability, and independent judgment.
