The responsibilities for this position includes designing new products that meet engineering and marketing criteria and/or makes revisions to the designs of existing products, which establishes and assures a competitive position of products in the market.<BR>SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: <BR>Designs prototype components and machines according to accepted engineering standards and specifications. Makes layouts and computer models of new and existing products using CAD system.<BR>Plans and formulates engineering programs and organizes staff according to project requirements.<BR>Reviews product designs performing appropriate engineering calculations to ensure compliance with established engineering and marketing specifications. Provides input for these specifications as necessary.<BR>Works with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Tooling concurrently, to design cost effective products. This may require co-locating in a cross-functional team environment.<BR>Coordinates purchasing activities for prototype machine development. Provides bills of material and orders materials from Production group. Manages expenditures within limitation of the project budget.<BR>Consult with Development personnel on building of prototype components and machines to be certain specifications are being met.<BR>Writes test requests outlining test parameters for projects. Coordinates the completion of necessary Safety tests. Reviews test results.
