               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Professional Practice Leader<BR> <BR>Department Nursing Professional Practice<BR> <BR>Location OHS 13B16<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> Nursing Professional Practice, 11K (Cardiac and Vascular Intermediate Care) and 13A (Trauma)<BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $77,000-115,500 annually; Location: Marquam Hill.<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>The Professional Practice Leader (PPL) will be responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care through implementation of the professional Practice Model and evidence-based standards of care. The PPL possesses broad nursing knowledge and clinical expertise in a specialty area. Functions as a clinical resource, conducts and facilitates patient care consultation in conjunction with direct care nurses, and provides resources to assess the impact of appropriate practice on patient outcomes.The PPL assigned to 11K and 13A works in partnership with the staff and unit leadership to monitor, evaluate and improve the standard of professional nursing practice. 11K is the Cardiac and Vascular Intermediate Care Unit and 13A is the Trauma Intermediate Care Unit.<BR>The PPL has primary responsibility for developing best practices and competencies in managing patients:<BR>? Post-catheterization including sheath removal<BR>? Undergoing cardioversion and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)<BR>? Post cardiac surgery (e.g. CABG, heart transplant, ventricular assist devices; and vascular surgery.<BR>? Multi-system trauma<BR>? Post-surgical repair if injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, and stab wounds<BR>? Sports-related injuries<BR>In addition, cardiac telemetry monitoring for all acute care units is centralized on 11K and the PPL works collaboratively with the acute care managers to develop process and practices that promote patient safety and staff satisfaction with telemetry.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> Required: Current, unencumbered Oregon Nursing License. MSN required. OHSU employees with a BSN and currently enrolled in graduates school will be considered. Master's Degree preferred, in nursing or related healthcare field such as an MSN or CNS. Three (3) - five (5) years of current clinical experience. Strong communication skills, teamwork (demonstrated ability to build teams and integrate existing teams). Current clinical certification in area of specialty (obtained within one year of hire). Preferred: CNS. Charge nurse and/or preceptor or educator experience.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> Requires prioritization of multiple projects, activities, and assignments. Frequent interruptions in an evironment of frequent change and fluctuations. May be exposed to excessive auditory and visual stimulation. May be required to attend out of town conferences according to hospital travel and reimbursement policicies. May be exposed to body fluids, tissue, possible radiation exposure, and infectious processes. Subject to computer work for several hours, as needed.
