Salary Range $77,000 - $115,500<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> The Professional Practice Leader will be responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care utilizing the professional practice model and evidence-based standards of care. The Professional Practice Leader, will work as a member of the Patient Care Services Management Team, and is responsible for the development of the nursing staff partnering with others to enhance health care and patient care through interdisciplinary activities, such as education, consultation, management, technological development, or research opportunities. The Professional Practice Leader models professional nursing practice in the leader, practitioner, and scientist roles facilitating the unit staff understanding of the model and implements unit-level strategies to embed the model in all activities. They contribute to nursing knowledge by conducting or synthesizing research that discovers, examines, and evaluates knowledge, theories, criteria, and creative approaches to improve healthcare practice. The Professional Practice Leader promotes communication of information and advancement of the profession through writing, publishing, and presentations for professional or lay audiences. They function as an expert clinician appropriate to the patient population. This position oversees the orientation program for newly hired employees on the unit, including development, implementation, and revision of the program and designs and implements quality improvement strategies to ensure that performance related to nursing sensitive outcomes meets or exceeds established goals. As the supervisor of the unit-based staff educators, the Professional Practice Leader determines the role duties and assignments of the staff educators and evaluates their performance.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> REVISED: Required: Current, unencumbered Oregon Nursing License; Requires BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross; BSN required. External candidates must possess a graduate degree, CNS or MSN preferred. Internal applicants must be actively enrolled in a graduate program to be considered. 3-5 years of recent clinical experience. ACLS Certification (required for Critical Care units only). Professional National Certification in an area of expertise applicable to the specific patient population served or ability to obtain certification within 1-2 years. Demonstrated strong communication skills and the demonstrated ability to build team and integrate existing teams.
