<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Research Assistant 2<BR> <BR>Department Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC)<BR> <BR>Location ONPRC<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> <BR>* FTE: 1.0<BR>* Salary range: $27,750-$34,000 annually<BR>* Location: OHSU West Campus, ONPPRC, Beaverton, OR<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> This position contributes to, and participates in ongoing research through independent and knowledgeable application of the following skills: Initiation and maintenance of mammalian cell cultures; RT-PCR and PCR; Preparation of DNA, RNA; Transfection of DNA into mammalian cells; Genotyping; Gel electrophoresis analysis (agarose, SDS-PAGE); Molecular biology (mutagenesis, cloning, sequence analysis); Microscopy (Confocal, fluoresence and laser capture); small animal experience (saphenous vein bleeding, ear punch tissue collection). The position also participates in the organization, management and statistical analysis of data; library/database research, the acquisition and processing of tissue samples, including preparation of buffers and fixatives; and training of new research staff and students.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Requires:<BR>* Bachelor's degree in biological science field<BR>* Background in molecular/cellular neuroscience or molecular/cellular endocrinology research<BR>* Ability to communicate effectively, including use and meaning of scientific terminology, in both written and oral formats<BR>* Ability to work both independently and in a small group setting<BR>* Proficient in mathematical calculations and metric conversions<BR>* Working knowledge (6 months relevant work experience) of Microscoft Excel, Word, and graphics software<BR>* Demonstrated independence and competence to perform data management and analysis of research findings, including use of spreadsheets, graphics and statistical programs<BR>* Ability to interact in a positive and productive manner, and to work efficiently and skillfully with a variety of diverse staff<BR>* Ability to prioritize work demands, and coordinate research protocols with other staff<BR>* Possess organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily perform job duties<BR>Preferred:<BR>* Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology<BR>* One year paid laboratory work experience (not including school laboratories)<BR>* Experience maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies and equipment<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>How To Apply <BR> <BR> Apply here online.
