               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Research Associate<BR> <BR>Department Physiology and Pharmacology<BR> <BR>Location RJH 4520<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE; Salary range $40,000 - $60,000 per year<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>* Carry out experiments in consultation with the Principal Investigator, trouble-shoot technical difficulties independently.<BR>* Generate primary cultures (neurons), and carry out general cell culture including protein expression and purification, transfections, RNA isolation and real-time PCR, western blots, and ELISA.<BR>* Experience with survival surgery is preferred, particularly cardiac ischemia or ischemia-reperfusion surgery in mice.<BR>* Experience with the production and use of viruses to express genes of interest is preferred.<BR>* Experience with immunohistochemistry is beneficial but not required.<BR>* Genotype and maintain colonies of transgenic mice.<BR>* Train newcomers to the lab in experimental procedures.<BR>* Serve as lab administrator--this includes maintaining an inventory, making stock solutions, and ordering lab supplies. Assist in cleaning glassware and equipment as needed.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Required:<BR>* Master's Degree (or higher) in a relevant field plus three years of related experience required (prefer four years experience).<BR>* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.<BR>* Knowledge of basic chemistry and physiology.<BR>* Must be flexible, able to take direction, and willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.<BR>* Have expertise with primary cultures, general cell culture including protein expression and purification, RNA isolation and real-time PCR, western blots, and ELISA.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>How To Apply <BR> <BR> Apply here online.
