<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Title: Research Computer Scientist- Cancer Institute<BR>Location: Oregon-Portland<BR>Job Number:_20258<BR>Providence is calling a full-time Research Computer Scientist- Cancer Institute for a day shift position at Providence Cancer Center in Portland, OR. <BR><BR>In this position, you will:<BR><BR>* Bring a background of computer science and other hard science to the Cancer IT Team to represent the scientific research needs of the Cancer Institute.<BR>* Be responsible for collaborative research, discovery, design, implementation and maintenance of systems of software and integration with 3rd party systems to facilitate the automation of research data and efforts.<BR><BR><BR>Qualifications:<BR><BR>Required qualifications for this position include:<BR><BR>* Master?s degree in bioinformatics plus three years experience in bioinformatics and/or technical field (comp science, mathematics, statistics, science), OR Bachelor''s degree plus five years experience in computer science, bioinformatics and/or technical field, OR Nine years experience in bioinformatics computer science and/or technical field, in lieu of a degree.<BR>* The ideal candidate would have some or all of the following:<BR>Experience with open-source software and/or Microsoft software development stack,<BR>Software design experience and familiarity of software design principles,<BR>Familiarity with healthcare information systems<BR>Technical leadership in systems architecture, reliability and/or scalability,<BR>Understanding of strategies around storing and processing large data objects (e.g. imaging, genomes),<BR>Experience working in research and/or academia,<BR>Experience providing technical and/or work process guidance and direction to team members,<BR>Experience with bio-statistics a plus, though not required.<BR><BR><BR>About Providence in Oregon<BR><BR>As the largest health care system and largest private employer in Oregon, Providence offers exceptional work environments and unparalleled career opportunities.<BR><BR>The Providence Experience begins each time our patients or their families have an encounter with a Providence team member and continues throughout their visit or stay.
