Reporting to Shop Service Supervisor, performs service activities primarily in the main service shop for customer and/or sales and rental fleet equipment.<BR>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including, but not limited to the following:<BR>Perform the following service operations with occasional supervision:<BR>* Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.<BR>* Pre-delivery, setup, and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products. <BR>* Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems.<BR>* Write service reports that accurately document activities.<BR>* Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner.<BR>* Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.<BR>* Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and to preserve and document component failure information for accurate failure analysis.<BR>* Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.<BR>* Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner which promotes a positive relationship.<BR>* Work overtime as needed and within labor law guidelines.<BR>* Attend scheduled training classes and department meetings as required.<BR>* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.<BR><BR>Job Requirements :<BR><BR>PREFERRED SKILLS<BR>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.<BR>* Knowledge of basic diesel technology, electronics, transmissions, and hydraulics.<BR>* Prefer Associates Degree in Diesel Technology, or equivalent education and related experience.<BR>* Five years previous heavy equipment service experience preferred.<BR>* Ability to become forklift certified<BR>* Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks<BR>* Posses valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record (CDL for operating trucks of 26,000 pounds or more helpful, but not required). <BR>* Ability to lift 50 pounds, standing, walking, and bending.<BR>* Ability to work in shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, etc. May occasionally be required to work outside in various weather conditions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           </font></td>
