               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Job Title: Staff Nurse (RN or LPN)<BR>Area of Interest: Biomedical<BR><BR>Job Description: Come bring your nursing experience to support the life saving mission of the American Red Cross Blood Services.<BR><BR>Based out of Portland, OR, this full time position will be working at community based blood drives throughout the greater metro area. You will have the opportunity of interacting with volunteer blood donors performing health history assessments and phlebotomy to collect the life saving blood needed to help patients in 80+ hospitals throughout Oregon, Washington and Southeastern Alaska. <BR><BR>Basic Function:<BR>To ensure positive donor/sponsor group experience, by providing superior service, to include determining donor eligibility, performing venipunctures and collecting quality units of blood.<BR><BR>Essential Functions:<BR>Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with Regional Procedures (RPs), with regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other applicable federal, state and local laws.<BR>Complies with safety policies and procedures in the work area and uses applicable protective equipment at all times to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids.<BR>Sets up/breaks down supplies and equipment.<BR>Performs quality control activities on blood products and equipment.<BR>Promotes good donor care during collection of safe units of blood in accordance with all regulations.<BR>Performs Health History on donors using interviewing and documentation skills; determines donor suitability according to ARCBS directives, the Code of Federal Regulations, regional policies and procedures.<BR>Functions as a team member to ensure smooth and efficient collection process.<BR>Maintains up-to-date knowledge of RPs and all regulations.<BR>Maintains a positive public relation through superior customer service, interpersonal skills and communication at all times to promote a professional image of ARCBS.<BR>Trains paid and volunteer staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.<BR>Ability to work in all blood drive locations including the self contained units, which are modified buses.<BR>Performs venipunctures and monitors collection process and complications; accurately documents information on blood donor record.<BR><BR>Other Functions<BR>May operate American Red Cross vehicle as assigned driver.<BR>Ensures volunteer staff feels valued and is welcomed.<BR>Act as charge nurse at blood mobile operations upon completion of additional training.<BR>If no qualified RN is available to be in charge of a blood drive, a qualified LPN may be designated as charge nurse with responsibility to run the blood drive.<BR><BR>This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
