               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Sterile Processing Technician 2 - Flex<BR> <BR>Department South Operating Room<BR> <BR>Location OHS 6A4<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> This is a flex (0.03 FTE) position working varied days, 8-hr shifts. The salary range for this position is $14.57 - $19.64 per hour. This position is located on Marquam Hill.<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> The Sterile Processing Technician is essential to the support of the operating rooms providing instrumentation, equipment and supplies as needed. Also making sure that all of the equipment needed for the cases is there or is borrowed from another area so as not to impact the surgeries. The position will also assist with other departmental needs as outlined by job duties or by management. The individual will make decisions on advanced knowledge of OHSU policies and procedures where guidelines are vague nonexistent.<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> One (1) year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician 1 with successful completion of a 6 month instrumentation processing training with a higher level Technician; Successful completion of an accredited Sterile Processing training program will substitute for 6 months of experience. OR Two (2) years experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care center with primary responsibility for instrumentation processing and sterilization. National certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required within six months of hire. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical supplies. Understanding of instrumentation by type and function. Understanding of sterilizer operation and principles. Understanding of tray assembly and wrapping procedures. Ability of operate computers and job related equipment. Good interpersonal and communication skills, Communicate clearly and appropriately. Stand for long periods of time. Push/Pull/Lift 50+lbs. Medical Terminology. Materials Management Certification within the 1st year of employment.<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> Varied days and hours, working in a sterile environment in the OR area, exposure to sustained noise and exposure to the stress of multiple priorities, fast paced environment, heavy phone calls, required to wear surgical attire and protective devices provided by the employer, some exposure to human tissues/fluids, toxic chemicals, carcinogen, gases, radiation, biohazardous and infectious materials, and sharp instrumentation.
