<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Veterinary Pathologist Trainee<BR> <BR>Department Oregon National Primate Research Center<BR> <BR>Location ONPRC<BR> <BR>Work Unit Description <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range <BR> <BR> 1.0 FTE; Salary range $38,495 - $47,344<BR> <BR>Functions/Duties of Position <BR> <BR> <BR>Please note that this Veterinary Pathologist-Postdoctoral Trainee in Nonhuman Primate Pathology position is located in Beaverton, OR at the Oregon National Primate Research Center.<BR>The veterinarian trainee will learn primate-specific pathology techniques by conducting both gross and histological examination of monkeys who die or are euthanized due to clinical illness or for experimental protocols.<BR>The trainee will initially assist with, and then be responsible for, preparing written reports of findings upon completion of both gross and histological examination of each case.<BR>After initial training and orientation within the unit, the trainee will participate in weekly duty rotation on the necropsy service and the weekly on call rotation for after hours and weekend necropsies.<BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR>* Technical Research / Necropsy duties: Administer sedative/anesthetic agents, perform venipuncture, perform gross postmortem examinations, perform perfusions and special dissections, tissue collection and distribution, collect specimens needed for supplemental laboratory tests and properly dispose of biohazardous waste, assist prosectors in set up for necropsy, complete pertinent paperwork<BR>* Microscopic evaluation of cases in support of colony and research aims<BR>* Evaluation of pathology data, preparation of case reports and original projects, for publication, participation in Nonhuman Primate Pathology Database curation<BR>* Participation in training activities: AFIP Wednesday Slide Conference, Veterinary Rounds, Virtual Slide Conference<BR> <BR>Job Requirements <BR> <BR> <BR>Required:<BR>* D.V.M./V.M.D. degree from a veterinary school accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association<BR>* Ability to work independently, in a small group setting, and one-on-one with collaborators and clients<BR>* Competence to perform data management<BR>* Ability to prioritize work demands<BR>Preferred:<BR>* Prefer at least one year laboratory experience<BR>* Direct experience and knowledge of histological and necropsy techniques and procedures<BR>* Experience working with non-human primates.<BR>* Experience involving data collection and analysis, tissue preparation, tissue distribution, and daily operation of necropsy and histology laboratories<BR>* License to practice veterinary medicine in one US state<BR> <BR>Additional Details <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>How To Apply <BR> <BR> Apply here online.
