This Electronics Design Engineer (R&D - Communication Products) position at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) offers a broad range of learning opportunities by exposure to a variety of communication products including, but not limited to fiber optic transceivers, modems, radios, satellite-synchronized clocks, Ethernet switches and accessory products. The key responsibility for this position is to design, build, troubleshoot and test analog, digital and switch mode power supply electronics to meet product specifications.<BR><BR>SEL provides systems, services, and products for the protection, monitoring, control, automation, and metering of utility and industrial electric systems worldwide.<BR><BR>The Electronics Design Engineer is in our Pullman headquarters, located in Eastern Washington, where you?ll enjoy an unmatched quality of life; the benefits of smaller university town life; country space and fresh air; freedom from traffic; easy access to recreational activities in nearby mountains, rivers, and forests; and great schools and universities.Electronics Design Engineer (R&D Communication Products)Responsibilities:<BR>* Participate in preparation of system level specifications.<BR>* Assist in the development of hardware specifications.<BR>* Analyze, design, and develop conventional analog and digital circuits as required.<BR>* Demonstrate and document product and circuit robustness using computer simulations, conventional analysis and standard testing methodologies.<BR>* Conduct design reviews.<BR>* Design, implement, and document firmware or software required for product development.<BR>* Write and analyze test plans, conduct design tests and evaluate test results.<BR>* Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design and test documentation.<BR>* Provide and maintain accurate product cost estimates. Provide basic labor estimates.<BR>* Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material.<BR>* Provide and maintain accurate project plans. Manages and/or leads hardware projects of moderate complexity.<BR>* Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing.<BR>* Direct the efforts of associate engineers and technicians.<BR>* Participate in industry technical meetings, seminars, and conferences.<BR>* Follow and improve R & D processes.Qualifications:<BR>* B.S. and/or M.S. in Electrical Engineering<BR>* Typically with 4 - 8 years of combined experience in at least 2 of the following areas:<BR>* analog circuit design<BR>* digital design with microprocessors<BR>* power supply design<BR>* Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills<BR>* Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures<BR>* Abil </font></td>
