Dow AgroSciences is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company and had annual global sales of $5.7 billion in 2011.<BR><BR>The primary purposes of this job are to i) develop new wheat varieties that contribute to the commercial success of the company and ii) provide leadership and direction to the Pullman, Washington breeding station. Support overall wheat breeding strategy by selecting and managing test locations that are used by self and others to identify superior performing products and to help position the products for sales. This position will develop and administer plans to assure proper staffing, budgets, and facility resources to accomplish all station research programs in a safe environment. The station leader will understand and assure compliance with all DAS, State and Federal regulations.<BR><BR>Job Description: <BR>* Responsible for leading the wheat breeding team, comprising Associate Wheat Breeder, Operational Field Biologist and other technical staff, to develop and implement all aspects of running a top tier wheat breeding program.<BR>* Hire, develop and mentor employees to promote personal and professional growth, to support career progression, retention and safety.<BR>* Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to station personnel and part-time employees.<BR>* Ensure research programs are in full compliance with all DAS, State and Federal requirements governing lab, greenhouse and field testing activities.<BR>* Effectively plan and allocate resources needed to resource approved projects. Manage budget cost centers, capital and assets at the station.<BR>* Ensure daily technical direction is provided to seasonal temporary labor, ensuring all activities completed in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.<BR>* Actively participate in global multi-disciplinary teams comprised of lab, field, parent seed, and management personnel to support corporate activities and to develop Global Wheat Breeding Strategies..<BR>* Select germplasm, develop and implement a creative and efficient breeding plan with the purpose of selecting superior commercial products in target environments. <BR>* Understand and leverage the diversity of germplasm available from the Global breeding network, including coordination with the Australia wheat program, Hyland wheat program, and other networks..<BR>* Prepare and Analyze data from testing program.
