We will transform our ideas into reality through shipping a first-to-market product.<BR><BR>This role is responsible for leading a Mechanical Engineering team that will design and build exciting, innovative products in partnership with a world class ID team.<BR><BR>The qualified candidate will have the ability to successfully manage a Mechanical Engineering team responsible for the design, development, and release of a consumer electronic device. Areas of responsibility span the product life cycle and include owning or contributing to the vision and strategy creation for the product or service, designing all areas of the product or service, and managing implementation to support the product or service release. The candidate must demonstrate a detailed understanding of the significance of time to market, risk mitigation, contingency plans, return on investment, etc.<BR><BR>Excellent communication skills, leadership, people management, program management skills, self-motivation and the ability to successfully deal with ambiguity are a must. Direct and recent experience in consumer electronic Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering and a successful history of working with Industrial Design and Marketing is a plus. A general knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering methodologies and tools, Pro Engineer, tooling, File documentation protocol, Bill of Material Structuring and related file management tools is a requirement. The candidate must have actively participated in the management of design, documentation and qualification of a consumer electronics product within the last year.<BR><BR>Responsible for product vision, understanding customer/partner needs, and removing obstacles, the Director of Mechanical Engineering must demonstrate results in the following areas:<BR><BR>Design Strategy: Uses knowledge of the customer and partners to ensure that products deliver their intended value, and meet Microsoft''s business objectives. Creates a design strategy for a product line that encompasses multiple product lifecycles (from inception, through to manufacturing), and that resolves process gaps, accounting for quality, performance, cost, schedule, risk, and capability.<BR><BR>Business, Experience, and Technology (BXT) Acumen: Balances technical approaches to design </font></td>
