Job Category:Software Engineering: Development
Location:Redmond, WA, US
Job ID:802661-89038
Division:Corporate Research & Development

The Technical Strategy Incubation team is looking for a senior software architect to lead development of our cryptographic security platform. Our programming platform is a new, novel operating system, 99% of which is written in type- and memory-safe C#. The candidate would lead design and integration of cryptographic security features into this new platform. These features include but are not limited to X.509, TLS, GSS-API, PKCS, etc. Responsibilities might include working with TPM and leveraging that to implement measured boot, remote attestation, and other features which rely on a chain of trust rooted in hardware. We are looking for that ideal cross between a systems programming engineer and a cryptographic engineer who knows details of (and weaknesses behind) CA model, various signing and encryption algorithms, cypher modes (and their unsafe combinations), etc.

Our team''s first rule is that "everyone codes; everyone loves to code", so the candidate should expect to spend a significant percentage of his or her time writing code, as the entire team does, in addition to taking responsibility for architecture and design work. And because this is an incubation group, a candidate must have a high tolerance for uncertainty, an independent drive, and an eagerness to work in an unusually fast-paced environment. Experience in startups is a plus, as is experience in managing teams.

Although an incubation, we apply rigor and engineering discipline very much as a product group would. Therefore, a demonstrated ability to ship commercially successful products is highly valued. Experience with all aspects of operating system and virtual machine development, a deep understanding of processor architecture are all large pluses.

This position requires a Master''s or Bachelor''s degree in computer science or related subjects and a minimum 5 years working experience in software engineering

CR: SBG
