Wiley Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory<BR>Division:<BR><BR>Scientific Resources<BR>Group: Cell Isolation and Systems Analysis (CISA) & Mass Spectrometry<BR>Job Description<BR>We are seeking an exceptional candidate with strong experience in bioinformatics, computational biology and related disciplines for the analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics and other -omics data, ideally in microbiology - microbial community research. The successful candidate will implement and develop new computational approaches for analysis and integration of -omics data and work closely with both internal and external collaborators on data analysis and interpretation. The candidate will establish integrated -omics data analysis pipeline using current and new analytical tools to enable a predictive view of cellular functions. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in analyzing transcriptomics (RNAseq) and proteomics data using network inference and applied statistics approaches for quantitative modeling of cellular behavior. Proficiency in a programming or scripting language and Linux systems is required. <BR>A strong track record of publication in global transcriptome/proteome analyses is expected. Strong communication skills in the design of experiments, explanation of approaches and presentation of results is also required. The candidate will foster scientific excellence, collaboration and innovation, and promote an active user program.<BR>The candidate should be highly self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to conceive and collaborate on a wide set of research activities. This position requires an ability and willingness to work with EMSL users to assist them in achieving their scientific objectives. The candidate must therefore be adept at working with interdisciplinary teams and be willing to mentor, advise and assist researchers with a variety of research interests.<BR>Job ID: 301960<BR>Minimum Requirements<BR>A Bachelor''s degree with at least 5 years experience or a Master''s degree with 3 years experience or a Ph.D. with 1-2 years experience is required.<BR><BR>Must be a skilled professional who applies a broad basis of existing theories, principles, and concepts to a specialty field.<BR><BR>All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.<BR>Qualifications<BR>Education: PhD in computational biology & bioinformatics, microbiology or related scientific fields plus 3 or more years of postdoctoral experience. Extensive experience in analyzing high throughput -omics data, network analysis, applied statistics and data integration approaches is required.
