The ARM Climate Research Facility is a scientific user facility sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science.<BR><BR>Nine DOE national laboratories share the responsibility for managing and operating the Facility; the ARM Communications team is located at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. <BR>As a member of the ARM Communications team, this specialist will work with ARM Facility leadership, colleagues, engineers, and researchers to develop timely and accurate newsworthy information for targeted media and stakeholder audiences. This information could range from research highlights, feature articles, and press releases, to collateral material that supports media events and other outreach activities. <BR>Reporting to the Science & Research Communications Group Manager, the specialist will work under the direction of the ARM Public Information Officer.<BR><BR>This specialist will serve as the primary liaison between the ARM Facility and national, regional, local and trade media, including print, broadcast, social and web-based news organizations. The specialist will assist in the development of communications strategies and tactics that enhance the reputation and increase the recognition of the ARM Facility as the worlds premier ground-based observatory for advancing climate change research.<BR>Responsibilities:<BR>As a member of the Communications Services team, the specialist will be responsible for:<BR>Researching, writing and distributing news releases and other written materials<BR>Developing and pitching compelling story ideas to targeted reporters and editors<BR>Establishing and maintaining relationships with key national, regional, local and trade news media representatives and ARM Facility staff<BR>Coordinating news conferences, media tours, and media availabilities<BR>Identifying media opportunities that connect ARM Facility accomplishments to national and international issues, public concerns or trends<BR>Packaging news for digital communications channels, including social media and the web<BR>Bringing creative ideas, new thinking and new approaches to media and public outreach<BR>Connecting ARM Facility experts with appropriate science and trade reporters and suggesting ARM Facility staff as expert resources for future stories<BR>Providing media relations counsel and training to ARM Facility staff and management<BR>Minimum Requirements<BR>The successful candidate must have a bachelors degree in communications, marketi </font></td>
