With modern facilities, equipment and over 350 talented researchers and staff, APL-UW provides a unique, dynamic work environment with many opportunities.<BR><BR>The Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington has an outstanding opportunity for an APL Scientist/Engineer Senior.<BR><BR>Responsibilities:<BR>The Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) at the University of Washington seeks applications for professional staff to join the ultrasound-based Washington Molecular Imaging and Therapy Center (uWAMIT) in Seattle. uWAMIT?s mission is to advance molecular imaging and therapeutic technologies and clinical translations using ultrasound-based technology. The Center is a multi-disciplinary endeavor with leadership from the departments of Bioengineering, Radiology, and the Applied Physics Laboratory. It was established in 2010 to focus on the discovery, development, translation, and commercialization of molecular imaging and therapy technologies. The University of Washington and industries in the Seattle area have been leaders in biomedical ultrasound research, development, and commercialization for nearly three decades. This program is funded by the Life Science Discovery Fund (LSDF). <BR><BR>uWAMIT''s development of molecular imaging and therapy is focused on:<BR><BR>* Use of Ultrasound in Molecular Imaging and Therapy: Ultrasound''s availability, low cost, and real-time operation enables molecular diagnosis to transform the way medicine is conducted around the world.<BR><BR>* Early Stage Cancer Detection: Use of cancer specific molecular probes that attach to cancerous regions in the body enabling early stage screening and diagnosis of Prostate, Ovar </font></td>
