This individual will work with the laboratory information system (LIS) which includes accessioning test requests into the LIS per written protocols. The technician will prepare reports of culture review, daily statistics, QA and nosocomial reports for infection control, overdue test log, AFB sendout, etc. Processes requests for bacterial and fungal cultures. Prepares direct smears, including but not limited to Gram stains, KOH preps, Trichrome smears, etc. Performs setup for bacterial susceptibility testing including Vitek AMS and disc diffusion technique. Performs corrective action on equipment out of temperature range. Collects glassware and biological waste from the Microbiology Lab, and autoclaves material to sterilize. Maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment. Performs other duties as required.<BR><BR>This position provides opportunities to work in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse and rewarding environment.
