TSS manages approximately 45,000 blood components annually. This individual plays an important role in patient care. The position provides the opportunity to work in a fast paced environment, with a balance of the laboratory and a clinical environment.<BR><BR>Primary Job Responsibilities:<BR>* Manage orders for all blood components including receiving orders from patient care areas: sending orders for blood components to Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC) and issuing blood components to patient care areas.<BR><BR>* Maintains calm in stressful situations. Ability to think clearly in urgent situations. Respond quickly and efficiently, especially for patients with bleeding emergencies.<BR><BR>* Issue appropriate blood components for emergent use. Follow guidelines for issuing uncrossmatched or stock products.<BR><BR>* Thaw Plasma and Cryoprecipitate as needed. Process Red Blood Cells and Platelets for distribution to patient care areas. <BR><BR>* Monitor patient samples for appropriate labeling and patient identification. Notify patient care areas when samples do not follow such requirements.<BR><BR>* Perform the initial handling of patient specimens for d </font></td>
