Its mission is to monitor global health conditions and health systems, as well as to evaluate interventions, initiatives, and reforms. It uses cutting-edge techniques to tackle some of the most difficult and most critical questions in global health and find answers that will become the foundation for better policies and, ultimately, better health.<BR><BR>IHMEhas an outstanding opportunity for aData Visualization Scientistto join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to create innovative and engaging ways to visually explore and interact with our research results. Visualizations will be used to present data on IHME's website and in mobile applications, for presentations and events, as well as internally for exploration and validation of preliminary and final analysis results. The Data Scientist will be responsible for design, development, testing, and user support of visualizations; he or she will combine a deep understanding of audience needs with substantial knowledge of innovative ways to visualize data and making data interactive. You should be passionate about how to make data useful, engaging and fun. The Data Visualization Scientist will report to the Director of Data Development.<BR><BR>Responsibilities<BR><BR>* Develop and maintain engaging, visually appealing and fast performing visualizations, visualization tools, and other ways to make data interactive and engaging<BR><BR>* Visualize large, complex and frequently updated datasets on maps, bubble graphs, treemaps, scatter plots, etc.<BR><BR>* Work closely and iterate quickly with IHME researchers and other stakeholders<BR><BR>* Develop innovative ways to leverage data visualization in the scientific research process, including data exploration, validation of results, and visualizing analytic processes<BR><BR>* Enable others to upload updated datasets into visualization tools<BR><BR>* Identify ways to automate updates for visualizations that are frequently changing, e.g. adding new indicators or results from different runs of models<BR><BR>* Devise sensible and user-friendly ways of connecting different visualizations, e.g. switching from maps to tree maps and back, as appropriate for the data<BR><BR>* Manage and update several existing visualization tools built in Protovis/D3<BR><BR>* Proactively suggest new ways to leverage visualizations as appropriate<BR><BR>* Develop a deep understanding of IHME's research work and results to ensure proper representation of data in visualizations and other tools<BR><BR>* Develop and expand a deep understanding of the needs of di                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 </font></td>
