The DBA will perform administration and engineering for multiple large databases. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale, massively concurrent, highly available distributed Oracle systems on a UNIX/Linux platform. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required. Strong experience with data warehouse strategies and environments preferred as well as experience with Oracle Applications<BR><BR>Responsibilities - Operations<BR><BR>* Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with development<BR>* Maintain development and production environments. Monitor and maintain database security and database software<BR>* Resolve problems in database bottleneck areas like wait event tuning and SQL tuning. Check for free space, fragmentation, nightly/weekly backup status, dead-locks<BR>* Maintain key management, index management and data dictionary<BR>* Monitor scheduled batch jobs and queues including: run command lines, shell scripts, SQLs, on-call support, run scripts, monitor queues, connect to various servers and verify the results<BR>* Participate in on-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer/dev supportResponsibilities - Engineering<BR><BR>* Database performance tuning - optimizing databases for performance and scale<BR>* Review, design and develop data models in conjunction with the application development teams<BR>* Design, develop, and implement Oracle database instances for the development and production environments<BR>* Provide advice to Software Engineers on the effective use of DML; provide advice on troubleshooting, exception processing needs and other data management issues<BR>* Design logical data models, physical database structures, Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts and Data Manipulation Language (DML) scripts as required<BR>* Create custom scripts in coordination with the Software Engineers for data import and other requirements like correcting software and database defects<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR><BR>* 5+ years of oracle dba experience on Unix/Linux.<BR>* Worked with 10g for at least 2 years on Unix/Linux<BR>* Experience with Oracle Applications - specifically 11i and R12<BR>* Working knowledge ofOracleDBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, and use of hints)<BR>* Experience in a 24X7 production environment<BR>* Capacity monitoring and management capabilities<BR>* Experience in DR<BR>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             </font></td>
