Its mission is to monitor global health conditions and health systems, as well as to evaluate interventions, initiatives, and reforms. It uses cutting-edge approaches to tackle some of the most difficult and most critical questions in global health and find answers that will become the foundation for better policies and, ultimately, better health.<BR><BR>IHMEhas an outstanding opportunity for aDatabase Developer. The Database Developer will be responsible for overseeing the design, creation and maintenance of IHME databases used to enhance research efforts as well as improve our ability to illustrate and disseminate global health trends through innovative means. This individual will also serve the critical function of maintaining or modifying existing databases to meet research needs effectively and efficiently. The Database Developer will report to the Assistant Director, IT.<BR><BR>Responsibilities Include:<BR><BR>* Define system requirements by consulting with key research stakeholders and system users about the types of information needed.<BR><BR>* Work with respective research teams and support staff to design and develop data models and database architecture using best practices.<BR><BR>* Lead and assist with the creation, installation, testing, and maintenance of database systems.<BR><BR>* Consult with IT personnel to assess the system performance and make modifications as required.<BR><BR>* Identify and implement improvements to existing database schema and code based on researcher needs and performance.<BR><BR>* Monitor and manage databases for access and function.<BR><BR>* Train users and provide technical support and guidance including best design and coding practices. Work directly with members of the Data Team and the Strategy Team to ensure that database projects support priority needs and integrate with processes managed across these teams. <BR><BR>As a UW employee, you will enjoy generous benefits and work/life programs.
