It provides cost-efficient and resizable capacity while managing time-consuming database administration tasks, freeing you up to focus on your applications and business.<BR><BR>Amazon RDS team is responsible for building database platform that enable applications to meet the challenges of high availability and massive scalability. Our group focuses on the challenges in this space by developing services and generic components that reflect the latest advances in data dissemination and replication, load balancing, autonomous management and repair.<BR><BR>We are looking for database engineers that are passionate about Relational Databases, are enthusiastic about applying bold new ideas to real-world problems, can critically read and evaluate relevant literature, love brainstorming and algorithm analysis. We expect candidates to have:<BR><BR>* Knowledge of database systems theory<BR>* Working knowledge of relational databases internals<BR>* Good coding skills<BR>* Sense for how distributed systems work in practice and their limitations<BR>* Experience building and administering production databases<BR>* Experience in benchmarking and performance tuning<BR>* Excellent troubleshooting skills<BR>* Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly<BR>* Good communication skills.You will also be responsible to work closely with other development groups within Amazon to gather requirements; share design and define role out plans.<BR><BR>For general information on Amazon Web Services, please visit:<BR>http://aws.amazon.com<BR><BR>For more information on Amazon Web Services RDS, please visit: http://aws.amazon.com/rds<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR><BR>* 5+ years of experience engineering, administering and managing relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer)<BR>* Experience and success in automating administrative tasks<BR><BR>* Strong understanding of hardware performance, memory and I/O<BR>* BS in Computer Science<BR>Preferred Qualifications<BR><BR>* Track record of engineering database solutions<BR>* Experience with cloud technologies a plus.<BR>* Experience administering large database fleets a plus (>100)<BR>* Experience troubleshooting performance issues<BR>* Familiarity with a Unix/Linux development environment<BR>* Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment<BR>* Passion for developing products which provide a great customer experienc </font></td>
