Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and to accurately prepare complex financial reports and tax returns for various departments within VMMC.<BR><BR>1. Compiles and analyzes complex financial information to prepare entries to accounts, and document business transactions.<BR>2. Establishes and maintains new accounting and fiscal control records and procedures; prepares fiscal analysis; interprets accounts and records for various departments and managers.<BR>3. Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and VMMC policies and procedures; performs statistical analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes.<BR>4. Monitors and analyzes general ledger accounts and supports the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes including the annual audit; may perform some internal audit procedures and tax returns.<BR>5. May direct the work of lower level of accountants or accounting clerks and performs staff training as required.<BR><BR>This is senior level professional accounting position requiring a Bachelor''s degree in Business Administration or Accounting and 5 years experience in accounting. Also required are extensive knowledge of financial accounting theory; a working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws including filing requirements; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and technical skills, and computer literacy with specific knowledge of spreadsheet applications.<BR><BR>A Certified Public Accounting license is preferred.<BR><BR>Be a part of the Virginia Mason team where we offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefit package and a wonderful place to live.
