Join us, and find out how many ways Virginia Mason offers you the chance to focus on what really matters-our patients.<BR><BR>The Medical Assistant assists providers and other members of the health care team in clinic offices by performing a variety of back office, patient-related tasks and ensuring smooth patient and work flow within the department. This position supports the Oculoplastic Surgeon who works in the Ophthalmology Department. The Medical Assistant rooms and works up patients for the physician. Also responsible for post op phone calls to patients who had surgery. This position is front line triage for the physician and works independently when the doctor is in surgery - this includes answering phones, scheduling appointments, and general practice duties. This position is in Ophthalmology and it is expected that the successful candidate will learn appropriate Ophthalmic Skills. Work schedule is 8am - 5 pm four days a week and a short day (usually 4 hours) to round out 40 hours.<BR><BR>Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program required. One year experience in a health care environment preferred. Must be eligible for Washington State certification as a Health Care Assistant Levels A, C, and E, including completion of required Washington State AIDS training. Must submit application for certification as Health Care Assistant Levels A, C, and E within two weeks of hire. Knowledge of third party payer requirements required. Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required. Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required.
