Our multidisciplinary approach known as Team Medicine" gives every individual the chance to contribute to the well-being of our patients and the continuing success of our medical center.<BR><BR>The Patient Safety Specialist works with various members of the organization''s workforce, including physicians, nursing, and administration on processes and strategies related to improving patient safety. Coordinates and facilitates the investigation of quality of care concerns identified through the Patient Safety Alert process or other quality review processes. Provides support on quality and patient safety processes to assist section leadership and organizational committees in their pursuit of quality improvement.<BR><BR>1. Coordinates and facilitates the investigation, review, and disposition of Patient Safety Alerts (PSAs) and quality review processes.<BR><BR>2. Provides support on quality and patient safety processes to assist section leadership and organizational committees with information to improve quality.<BR><BR>3. Acts as risk manager/clinical resource to all Virginia Mason workforce members, designing and presenting effective risk management education programs.<BR><BR>4. Administers, supports, and uses risk management data system.<BR><BR>5. Conducts special projects/audits as assigned.<BR><BR>Bachelor''s degree in business, nursing, or a related field; or equivalent, required. Bachelor''s degree in nursing or a clinical discipline preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington a plus. Certification in risk management a plus. Three to five years experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a patient safety and/or risk management capacity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adapt to change quickly and positively, and manage conflict. Ability to interact appropriately with staff at all levels. Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations.
