This position is in the worldwide planning team for Amazon''s Kindle division, including Kindle Fire and Kindle e-readers, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to determine device pricing.<BR><BR>Job functions<BR>Your job would be to determine optimal pricing for Kindle devices, considering their interactions with the content ecosystem as a whole. You will use conjoint analysis, hierarchical discreet choice models and other methods to estimate price elasticity. You would own these models and you would have the opportunity to discover better methods. You would also own the device LTV models which use sophisticated econometrics to measure the incremental sales to Kindle customers. There is a significant opportunity to more deeply understand and build models of the connections between content and device demand.<BR><BR>The ideal candidate will:<BR>? Drive the business for pricing strategy<BR>? Own the whole process of measuring device elasticity; from data collection to modeling to working with internal customers of the data.<BR>? Own device LTV models. This means doing the necessary analysis and it also means working with the forecasting team, finance team, Kindle leadership and others to build consensus around the model assumptions and inputs.<BR>? Think creatively: Amazon is a place that is permanently pushing the boundaries of the industry. We are not looking for someone that will just estimate models and write analyses. We want someone that will take it to the next level in terms of how to square the theory of pricing and Amazon''s core business tenet of customer obsession.<BR>? Generate Impact: We want someone obsessed with impact. We don?t want someone that is just interested in finding patterns in the data. We want someone that understands how to turn those discoveries into value for our customers every day.<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR>? PhD in empirical hard science, financial engineering or quantitative social science (including marketing)<BR>? Expert with R, Stata, SAS or other statistical language<BR>? Strong written and verbal communication skills<BR>Preferred Qualifications<BR>? Experience with discreet choice modeling in the context of marketing, e.g. conjoint<BR>? 3+ years of experience, outside grad school, with data modeling and consulting<BR>? Passion about analyzing and creating value out of data<BR>? A motivation to collaborate with a diverse and innovative team of engineers, analysts and business management<BR>?
