<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Research Scientist<BR><BR><BR><BR>Job ID: 181560<BR>Location: US-WA-Seattle<BR><BR>Posted Date: 10/4/2012<BR>Company: Amazon Corporate LLC<BR><BR>Position Category: Research Science <BR>Apply for This Position<BR><BR>* Apply for this position online<BR>* E-mail this position to a friend<BR>Position Details<BR>Job Description<BR>Amazon.com is looking for a motivated individual with strong background in statistics, machine learning and time series analysis to join our Supply Chain Optimization team.<BR><BR>As a member of this team, he or she will play an integral part in Amazon.com''s supply chain management by successfully partnering with various operations, IT, retail, and finance teams to support new business initiatives.<BR>Position Responsibilities:<BR>- Apply data mining and machine learning techniques to build forecasting models and predict customer demand behavior.<BR>- Design experiments in both the simulation and production environments to support hypothesis testing of new algorithms.<BR>- Interact with various software and business groups to develop an understanding of their business requirements and operational processes.<BR>- Apply the acquired knowledge and business judgment to build decision-supporting and operational tools to improve the bottom line.<BR>- Identify areas with potential for improvement and work with internal teams to generate requirements that can realize these improvements.<BR>- Provide technical leadership to junior members of the team.<BR>- Set vision for the future growth of the team.<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR>Requirements:<BR><BR>- Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Math, Operations Research or related fields.<BR>- Strong theoretical knowledge in Statistics is a must.<BR>- Experience with database access language such as SQL.<BR>- 5+ years of experience in large scale machine learning and data mining projects in an industrial setting.<BR>- 5+ years of experience in predictive modeling and time series analysis in an industrial setting.<BR>- Basic programming experience with a major programming language such as JAVA and C++.<BR>Preferred Qualifications<BR>- Experiences in Combinatorial Optimization, Supply Chain Management are desired, but not required. </font></td>
