This individual will work on developing and validating exciting new genomic-based diagnostic testing in genetics. The Research Scientist will provide day-to-day management and oversight for the clinical genetics lab consisting of 2 senior technical staff, with the possibility of supervising additional staff.<BR><BR>Duties:<BR><BR><BR>* Oversee and coordinate activities in the clinical laboratory. Manage change and foster innovations and improvements.<BR><BR>* Maintain a competent technical staff and high-quality laboratory testing and training. Coordinate continuing education and in-service education for staff.<BR><BR>* Interview, hire and orient new employees to maintain a qualified technical staff.<BR><BR>* Delegate responsibilities, duties and tasks to optimize the use of staff time, skill, and expertise without compromising quality of testing.<BR><BR>* Oversee staff scheduling.<BR><BR>* Review and evaluate performance; provide fair and immediate feedback on job performance for staff; counsel staff to improve performance as required; recommend disciplinary action if necessary.<BR><BR>* Develop and implement clinical genetic and genomic test services based on next-generation sequencing and related technologies.<BR><BR>* Supervise laboratory staff and facilities of a clinical molecular genetics laboratory.<BR><BR>* Interact with laboratory clients (physicians and other medical providers).<BR><BR>* Report to facult </font></td>
