The Direct Traffic & Events team is agile and fast-moving, responsible for creating a platform that powers Amazon events worldwide. These events include traditional shopping events, product launches, service launches, and a wide range of new events.<BR><BR>As a member of the Direct Traffic & Events team you will help build and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services worldwide and deliver an unparalleled level of information and customized user experience using Java and Perl running on Linux. If you like solving hard problems, wearing multiple hats, and like working with people that do the same, we invite you to apply.<BR><BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR><BR>* Participate in the full development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters<BR>* Own the delivery of an entire piece of a system or application, and serve as a technical lead on small to midsize complex projects<BR>* Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments<BR>* Work closely with senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development<BR>* Builds software solutions where the problem is not well defined. Designs and defines the interaction between the other component pieces<BR>* Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR>? Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or related field<BR>? Equivalent experience to a Bachelor''s degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education<BR>? 2+ years professional experience in software development<BR>? Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design<BR>? Computer Science fundamentals in data structures<BR>? Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis<BR>? Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl<BR>Preferred Qualifications<BR>? Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers<BR>? Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations<BR>? Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project<BR>?
