Our multidisciplinary approach known as Team Medicine" gives every individual the chance to contribute to the well-being of our patients and the continuing success of our medical center.<BR><BR>The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff of the Medical Center, provides protection of property, and curtails criminal activity through visible deterrents.<BR><BR>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES<BR>The following duties are intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbents in this position and is not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical extension of position responsibilities.<BR><BR>1. Provides foot and motor patrol of the facility and reports safety and other discrepancies observed; this includes testing alarm and locking systems and reporting observed problems.<BR><BR>2. Performs lock and unlock duties as defined in the duty schedule.<BR><BR>3. Responds in a timely manner to calls for routine assistance.<BR><BR>4. Escorts patients, visitors, and staff to surrounding parking areas as requested.<BR><BR>5. Completes written reports of security activities.<BR><BR>6. Responds to emergent incidents, evaluates circumstances, and acts as a liaison with the appropriate persons.<BR><BR>7. Stands by with actual and potential disruptive persons to ensure the safety of all persons involved.<BR><BR>8. Conducts patrols of the Medical Center parking areas; issues parking violation notices as necessary.<BR><BR>9. Participates in ongoing training about current security trends and technologies.<BR><BR>10. Performs routine scheduled duties, such as making bank deposits.<BR><BR>High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate''s degree or equivalent preferred. Two years related experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; crisis intervention skills; and ability to project a positive image for the Medical Center, required.<BR><BR>Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid Washington State Driver''s License with a five-year clean driving record, for auto liability coverage through Virginia Mason Medical Center. Additional requirements include: the ability to obtain Healthcare Security Officer basic certification within 6 months of employment; Supervisory and Safety Certifications within first year of employment; and completion of Certified Protection Officer training within second year of employment.<BR><BR>Come join the quality health care leader in Seattle.
