Our staff not only enjoys outstanding benefits and professional growth opportunities, but also an environment noted for diversity, community involvement, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty.<BR><BR>UW Information Technology (UW-IT) has TWO outstanding opportunities for Senior Security Engineers.<BR><BR>Responsibilities:<BR>The Senior Security Engineer in the Office of CISO promotes and supports the secure use of networked servers and desktops by faculty, staff, and students at the University of Washington; acts as a member of the information security and privacy incident detection and response team as specified in University policy; participates in the development of new security services for enterprise and workgroup computing; participates and gives presentations in professional working groups; advises UW Information Technology and campus computing professionals on information security vulnerabilities, response, and remediation applicable to the University environment.<BR><BR>Position Complexities:<BR>The Senior Security Engineer must have strong technical knowledge and skills to work collaboratively in a dynamic, demanding, and multifaceted environment. The individual must possess a keen intellect and have a fundamental affinity for dealing with complex issues where many criteria matter but to varying degrees to different constituencies.<BR><BR>The person in this position must possess detailed knowledge of information security standards and best practices, security compliance, and remain up-to-date on the legal matters of information security.<BR><BR>The individual must have a solid understanding of the issues and processes involved with long-term technology development within an academic, scholarly enterprise. Familiarity with and sensitivity to the information technology needs of educational, research, scientific, and cultural institutions is an asset.<BR><BR>The person in this position must be a facilitator and convener with excellent interpersonal skills. The Senior Security Engineer is an experienced team player for whom the ownership of ideas is less important than the result of the collaborative effort.
