In this position, you will be responsible for building key social features and an entirely new and innovative learning experience for our customers on the websites and devices. This team has a broad technical charter that requires technical expertise in Amazon''s core services, Amazon web services, search techniques for finding relevant matches, building scalable and very low latency services and experience processing large data sets with map reduce.<BR><BR>As an Amazon software development engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and operations of the social features on Kindle devices. This team works with extremely large data sets including social network data sets, and requires a highly creative analytical thinking to help bring new features to fruition. This is a new space and there is a great deal of opportunity for a creative technical leader to innovate in the space and drive product direction. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment, high creativity, and great analytical reasoning skills.<BR><BR>Key Responsibilities:<BR><BR>* Work closely with the engineers and product managers to design and develop the best technical solutions to meet business needs.<BR>* Prepare technical designs to achieve our product vision.<BR>* Develop services and device software in Java, C++, and some Ruby.<BR>* Document and present technical solutions to product stakeholders.<BR>* Management and execute against project plans and delivery commitments.<BR>Basic Qualifications<BR><BR>* You have expertise in object-oriented design and systems architecture<BR>* You are fluent in one or more of: C++, Java or Ruby<BR>* You have a BS in Computer Science or a related degree<BR>* You have 3+ years of industry experience<BR>Preferred Qualifications<BR><BR>* You have sharp analytical abilities, proven design skills and a track record of delivery<BR>* You have excellent written communication and verbal agility.<BR>* You have a passion for intuitive user interface design and powerful user experiences<BR>* You have experience in applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   </font></td>
