Amazon?s tax space is an evolving and fast-paced environment with significant complexity, scale and visibility across the company. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with big data, enjoys the challenge of highly complex business contexts (that are typically being defined in real-time), and, above all else, is a passionate builder of talent and teams.<BR><BR>In this role you will be responsible for leading teams of Software Development Engineers to create world-class production tax software at "Amazon scale". You must be willing to insist on the highest standards for quality, maintainability, and performance. You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly available and durable. You will own the goals and road-map of the Financial Systems Tax engineering team and will have a major stake in the strategic direction of your software. You will demonstrate strong leadership as you control your own destiny in Amazon''s ownership oriented culture.<BR><BR>We interact upstream with all of Amazon?s businesses including Amazon Web Services, Kindle, our Merchants business, Retail and Digital, and many of our projects are cross-functional and part of a broader new product initiative or geographic expansion effort. To visualize the data volumes and complexity of the problem space, picture every system at Amazon that generates a business event where money changes hands. Our tax systems downstream and need to collect the hundreds of millions of corresponding tax events and match them to the original business events across multiple systems of record. We then cleanse, consolidate and shape all of this data into information that our senior finance leaders use to report our tax obligations to hundreds of jurisdictions globally, respond to growing numbers of audit requests from these same taxing authorities, and make critical decisions on how to manage a key piece of Amazon?s financial picture.<BR><BR>We are currently in the planning stages of building a new tax technology platform that will address challenges and coupling in the existing platform and provide an unprecedented level of extensibility for our business and tax teams to grow and innovate.<BR><BR>As a leader in Corporate Applications, you will pioneer new architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a scalable, service-oriented platform for tax.
