No other regional hospital received recognition in as many specialty areas. Virginia Mason is a 336-bed hospital, with more than 440 physicians, seven satellite clinics, an academic training setting, the Hope Heart Research Program, Benaroya Research Institute which focuses on auto-immune research, and a robust regional referral program. Virginia Mason will open a new hospital this year which demonstrates the financial strength and the innovative spirit of the organization. The design incorporates years of active process-improvement research and has attracted international interest. In addition to a robust surgery residency program Virginia Mason offers many fellowship programs.
