               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Communications Specialist 1<BR>Department: MedStar Transports<BR>Schedule: Part Time<BR>Shift: Night<BR>Hours: 1800-0600<BR>Job Details: <BR>* <?xml:namespace prefix = o /><BR>SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><BR>*This position works primarily nights, working 24 hours per week*<BR>The Communication Specialist functions in a specialized area of medicine by acting as coordinator of patient information, maintaining air to ground communications for helicopter and fixed wing aircraft as well as ground transportation, providing prompt and professional telephone communications, utilizing all resources available in written form and on computer and acts as a liaison between the transport program and all other health care agencies within the Spokane medical community and regionally; including flight team response, pertinent medical information to clinical team members, initiating a plan of action to incorporate changes occurring during the transport, and documenting all details of transport activity.<BR>                                     <BR>KEY RESULT AREAS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES - All functions are essential functions unless otherwise noted.<BR>1.   Displays knowledge of and follows flight program protocols in the dispatching of transports, documentation, and chart format to insure quality assurance.<BR>2.   Effectively interacts with all staff to coordinate patient transports.<BR>3.   Demonstrates proficient CAD skills and timely documentation.<BR>4.   Demonstrates consistent adherence to all program policies and procedures.<BR>5.   Demonstrates consistent customer service skills with adherence to departmental transport scripting.<BR>6.   Maintains program safety standards<BR>7.   Consistently demonstrates behavior that enhances professional performance and reflects the key moral commitments, mission and vision of the program.<BR>8.   Uses medical terminology and communication skills along with knowledge base to coordinate and provide for timely and safe patient transport.<BR>9.   Responsible for demonstrating an awareness and sensitivity to information, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Knows basic HIPAA law as it pertains to health plans. All employees of Inland Northwest Health Services who have direct or indirect access to patient health information must treat that information with the strictest confidence.
