               <td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Official Title: Regional Extension Specialist with rank of E-2 (assistant professor equivalent), full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position.    <BR><BR>This position is responsible for leading WSU Extension’s community economic development program expansion state-wide but with an emphasis on eastern Washington, especially in rural areas. <BR><BR>Responsibilities:<BR>May include any or all of the following:<BR>• Work with rural community leaders, County Extension faculty and other economic development professionals to foster local economic development in concert with community priorities. <BR>• Support other WSU Extension educators’ effort to promote economic development projects, to include:<BR>o Local business retention and expansion<BR>o The expenditure of transfer dollars within the local economy (such as tourism and retirement dollars) <BR>o Family asset building in limited income communities<BR>o Entrepreneur development.  <BR>• Coordinate efforts with WSU Regional and Export Economist; Community Sustainability Specialist; Latino Community Development Specialist; the Program for Digital Initiatives; and the Small Business Development Center. <BR>• Acquire resources through grants, contracts, and gifts to support the development and delivery of programs. Facilitate work among Extension and other WSU educators resulting in funding proposals that create new ways to meet local economic development goals. <BR>• Deliver consultation and educational workshops to public, private non-profit agencies and/or economic development groups.<BR>• Supervise program assistants and/or WSU student interns.<BR>• Evaluate program outcomes and impacts.<BR>• Contribute to the field and discipline of economic development.<BR>• Ensure that program outreach includes diverse and underserved communities.<BR><BR>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<BR>1. Master’s degree in a related field. <BR>2. Background in local economic development approaches and organizational development techniques.<BR>3. Three years experience in economic development project development, funding, or implementation.<BR>4. Demonstrated ability in writing and obtaining, grants, contracts, or gifts. <BR><BR>JOB EXPECTATIONS:<BR>• Ability to travel year-round using own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. Evening and weekend work in communities is required.  While using a private vehicle for official business, the successful candidate must obtain current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW 46.30.020, and RCW 46.09.090) and possess a valid driver’s license.  <BR>• Extension faculty members are hired into the organization, not into a specific geographical location.  It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.  <BR>• Understand and carry out the principles and specific requirements of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Affirmative Action Plan, and all pertinent rules and regulations.<BR><BR>Salary is commensurate with academic and professional qualifications and available funding, including history of program management and successful extramural fund development.   For more information on benefits at WSU, go to:  http://www.hrs.wsu.edu/benefits.<BR><BR>LOCATION:   The position will be headquartered at WSU Spokane.<BR><BR>APPLICATION PROCESS:<BR>Applications screening will begin November 15, 2012.
