The Dean reports to the Vice President of Instruction and works collaboratively with other Instructional and Student Services Deans. The Dean is responsible for the operation and management of all programs, personnel, and activities assigned to the division, consistent with Washington State Law, Washington Administrative Code, policies of the Board of Trustees, and procedures established by the District and Spokane Community College.<BR><BR>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<BR><BR>•Lead the Division in providing high-quality professional-technical education programs that meet the needs of our community and our students. *<BR>•Build and strengthen partnerships with business, industry and organized labor that will promote student success and continually improve the division’s programs. *<BR>•Manage, leverage and secure fiscal resources for the division. *<BR>•Support faculty and staff in professional development, student achievement initiatives, and program innovations. *<BR>•Supervise (e.g. recruit, select, train, schedule and discipline) professional exempt, classified and faculty. Adhere to the faculty Master Contract, classified bargaining agreement/rules and CCS policies/procedures. Resolve faculty and student concerns initiated within the Division. *<BR>•Responsible for ensuring assigned faculty/staff adhere to acceptable behavior and performance standards. Demonstrate that assigned faculty/staff have been informed how behavior and performance will be assessed, receive timely and accurate feedback regarding performance, and any observed performance and behavioral problems are corrected promptly. *<BR>•Work collaboratively with other Instructional Deans. Keep Vice President of Instruction up-to-date on Division needs, opportunities, and innovations. *<BR>•Oversee division offerings and budget implications. *<BR>•Supervise the preparation and development of necessary reports, including program-specific accreditations. *<BR>•Represent the College administration at assigned community, State and national activities and represent the Division at the appropriate College and District-wide meetings. *<BR>•Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *<BR>•Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties assigned. *<BR> * Essential duty.</font></td>
