<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">PLEASE APPLY AT: www.safeway.com/careers<BR>JOB DESCRIPTION:<BR>As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Deli Clerk <BR>provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. <BR>Operates computerized cash register and electronic scale in <BR>store delicatessen to weigh, wrap, itemize, and total <BR>customer s purchases. May take deli orders face to face or <BR>by telephone. Prepares deli food for hot and cold deli <BR>cases. Slices and wraps meats and cheeses for special <BR>order or to fill deli case. Prepares deli fruit or <BR>seasonal trays for display or special order. May replenish <BR>items in coffee area and deli case. Checks and maintains <BR>appropriate level of supplies in deli area. May retrieve <BR>product from storage area and stock freezer, cooler, or <BR>storage room as appropriate. Washes dishes. Sweeps and <BR>mops floors as needed. Cleans interior of display cases. <BR>Changes oil and filter in deep fryer and sanitizes food <BR>preparation equipment as necessary. <BR><BR><BR>JOB DUTIES:<BR>Safeway Deli Clerks employees are generally responsible for <BR>completing the following job duties:<BR>1. Provide customer service as currently defined by the <BR>employer within the scope of the position and within <BR>company policy.<BR>2. Operate slicers and other food preparation equipment.<BR>3. Total bill, count payment, and make change.<BR>4. Inventory stock, restock, and face shelves of deli cases <BR>on sales floor.<BR>5. Sanitation of deli area.<BR>6. Performs temperature and tare checks daily.<BR>7. Other duties as assigned.<BR><BR><BR>JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:<BR>1. Follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated <BR>prior customer service skills or related experience. <BR>2. Interact with customers and co-workers.<BR>3. Understand and follow instructions.<BR>4. Seldom overhead reaching. <BR>Standing: <BR>Constant standing while on job. <BR>Walking: <BR>Constant walking around kitchen/service area.<BR>Trunk Functions:<BR>Constant neck rotation and bending of head. Frequent <BR>crouching. Occasional twisting. <BR>Upper Extremity:<BR>Constant handling/grasping when filling orders, cooking, <BR>and cleaning. Constant fine finger manipulation when <BR>handling smaller items and counting bills. Frequent <BR>repetitive motion for short periods when slicing and making <BR>sandwiches. <BR>Vision: <BR>Use of peripheral vision and depth perception to move <BR>around crowded store area and push carts in aisles. Use of <BR>near vision to verify operation of register, read displays, <BR>read prices and count change.
