<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Parents as Teachers Parent Educator<BR>REPORTS TO: Program Manager <BR>CLASSIFICATION: Exempt<BR>SUPERVISES: 0<BR><BR>POSITION SUMMARY:<BR>Plans and implements comprehensive child development services to parents and children enrolled in program. Conducts home visits to families, child development assessments, develops individualized learning plans to strengthen and support parents so that children are healthy, safe and ready to learn. Conducts regularly scheduled home visits. Helps plan and implement parent education activities. Prepares detailed and accurate reporting documents. Parent Educators work with families through four interrelated services delivery components: personal visits, group connections, screening, and resource network. <BR><BR>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<BR>• Home Visiting Program: Constructs a regular schedule of home visit activities according to program standards. Prepares and implements home visit plans that are based on each child’s developmental needs and includes activities that conform to program standards and work plan<BR>• Interaction with children and families: Interacts positively with all families members to support the parent-child relationship by:<BR>• Maintaining an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each family that encourages their involvement in the program, and promotes parent-child bonding and family well-being<BR>• Teaching parents how to promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers by being warm, supportive, and comforting, and by establishing strong and caring relationships with them<BR>• Teach parents to provide children with developmentally appropriate experiences and opportunities that allow them to develop curiosity<BR>• Home Visits: Conducts at least the minimum of family home visits to comply with program and best practice standards,<BR>• Developmental Screening and Assessments: Conducts screenings of children’s motor, language, social/emotional and intellectual development to identify strengths and areas of concern. Regular review of each child’s progress and makes referrals as necessary. Makes ongoing written observations/assessments of individual children. <BR>• Interdisciplinary Planning: Participates as a team member in interdisciplinary planning for children and families, and other cross-component coordination efforts<BR>• Parent Involvement: Participates in, encourages, and supports family involvement in all aspects of the program. <BR>• Record Keeping: Maintains complete confidential records on each child in accordance with program and best practice standards<BR>• Staff Training: Attends regional trainings and other staff in-service trainings. <BR>• Center-based activities/groups: Participate in planning, coordinating and participating in group connections.<BR>• Community Engagement: Participates in networks and collaborations to support development of early learning system.<BR>• Advocates for the values of a diverse population within CHSW and the Community<BR>• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor<BR><BR>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<BR>• BA degree or equivalent work experience in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or in a field related to early childhood education; an AA with 5 years experience in an Early Childhood Education setting or classroom<BR>• Eligible for Required Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential<BR>• Proof of physical exam, including a TB skin test, must be on file within 90 days. For those who have tested positive, a statement from a doctor or a chest x-ray must be provided<BR>• Proof of CPR and First Aid Certification is required within 90 days of hiring<BR>• Obtain a food handler’s permit within 90 days of hiring<BR>• HIV/AIDS/Infection Control training are required within 90 days of hiring<BR>• Completion of the Criminal History, Declaration form, and fingerprinting<BR>• Must have access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage (unless employer supplies vehicle) and have a valid Washington State driver’s license</font></td>
