<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;">Requirements: Must be certified as a peer counselor consistent with WAC 388-865-0107. Certified Peer Counselor is a consumer of mental health services who has met the registration, experience, and training requirements, has satisfactorily passed the examinations, and has been issued a certificate by the Mental Health Division as specified in WAC 388-865-0107. In order to be certified as a peer counselor, all applicants must meet the following requirements:<BR>(a) Be a self-identified consumer of mental health services, as defined:<BR>(b) Maintain an active and current registration as a counselor under chapter 18.19 RCW<BR>(c) Complete specialized 40-hour training provided or contracted by the Mental Health Division or their designee; and<BR>(d) Successfully pass an examination administered by the Mental Health Division or an authorized contractor.<BR> <BR>Job Description Summary: Peer Support Services are provided to consumers registered with Crisis Response Services who are presenting with an acute crisis need. Peer Counselors will assist the consumer by providing continuity of care between various Crisis Service programs and interventions. Peer Counselors assist with hospital diversion and crisis stabilization, as well as integration, resiliency and quality of life objectives with consumers and/or family members. Peer Counselors share relevant personal experiences when appropriate and when it is helpful to the consumer. Peer Counselors will also provide consultation to Adult Case Management Services, Adult Outpatient Service, Intensive Outpatient Services and Integrated Co-Occurring Services around issues of Recovery and Peer support. Peer Support Services will help with access to care by contacting individuals who have an intake appointment to offer resources and help with any issues they may have that would prevent them from attending their intake appointment.
