Position closesAugust 24th at 2:00p.m. Health district recruiting for a part-time (8 hours per week) Public Health Nurse 1 position. The dispensing nurse will be responsible for daily dispensing of methadone as directed by the Medical Director or ARNP. The dispensing nurse will follow the essential functions and basic duties of the clinic and will participate in monthly program meetings. This position is responsible for assisting in opening & closing the dispensary clinic as needed. Appropriately dispenses methadone and other medications such as antibuse or TB medication to registered clients as required. Keeps accurate and timely records. Records and accounts for all methadone received and dispensed. Utilizes clinical judgment during dispensing to ensure clients are utilizing medication properly. Monitors all clients during dispensing and responds to any observable health problems. Observes patient random urine sample specimen collection when needed on an emergency basis. Monitors prescription medication with pill counts. Acts as medical liaison with community physicians, hospitals, health care providers, and social services in regards to the needs of methadone clientele. Maintains HIPAA and C.F.R. Part 2 confidentiality. *Provides vacation, sick time and on call relief for other Public Health Nurses in the methadone clinic dispensary. JOB REQUIREMENTS: - AA/AAS required. Graduation from an accredited professional school of nursing and a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington. - Ability to work flexible hours. - Basic keyboarding skills. Must be prepared and able to demonstrate the following qualifications at the time of referral: - De-escalation skills. - Knowledge and skills relating to substance abusing patients. - Ability and willingness to learn computerized medication dispensing specific to methadone clinic. - Previous experience working with substance abuse patients is helpful. Experience working with diverse populations is preferred. - Ability to work flexible hours - Ability to communicate and interact with other medical professionals regarding patientA?s involvement on methadone program and interaction with other prescribed medications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Prefer a B.S.N. - Previous experience working with substance abuse patients helpful. HOURS / DAYS/ SCHEDULE: This position is scheduled to work on Mondays from 5:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (8 hours per week) or on Tuesdays if Monday is a holiday (*with periodic additional hours). SALARY / WAGE / BENEFITS: $21.75 to $28.33/HR DOE. Fully benefited position. Starting wage will normally be $21.75/hr.
